This project involves deploying NearMiss cameras across approximately 3,000 sites over 2 years to collect and analyse data on pedestrian and vehicle interactions. The cameras are strategically placed to classify and count pedestrians and vehicles, detect drive-through and near drive-through incidents, and measure dwell times. The data collected aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of crossing behaviours, helping to identify potential safety risks and inform targeted interventions.

A comprehensive evaluation framework is expected to be informed by the ongoing data collection. This ongoing analysis allows for proactive decision-making and the implementation of effective safety measures to protect school children and other pedestrians. By utilising advanced technology and continuous data monitoring, the project aims to create safer school crossing environments across Victoria.
