Yarra 30km Speed Trial Evaluation

The evaluation sought to understand the implications of the reduced speed limit on traffic behaviours and safety within the city. Additionally, it aimed to assess the effectiveness of utilising probe data for analysing traffic volumes and speeds.

Real Time Traffic executed the project by deploying a range of standard traffic survey equipment, including high tech radars as well as Automatic Traffic Counts, alongside the incorporation of probe data. Realite Cameras were installed at intersections and midblock areas to conduct NearMiss detection. The deployment spanned a comprehensive 2-week period, gathering vital data to inform future policy decisions and further data collection initiatives.

The specifics regarding the business outcomes or conclusive findings from the project are still being developed. It is expected that the collected data will provide valuable insights into the impacts of reduced speed limits and the efficacy of using probe data for traffic analysis in urban environments.
